WAHA Standards Update

Standards Update

The SF015 Committee is continuing with the process of splitting Part 1 of the Standard into 3 sections – Lanyard Assemblies, Harnesses and Connectors to allow both easier referencing to other international Standards and ease of updating in the future. The related rope access Standard AS4488 has now come up for aged review and both Australian Rope Access Associations have indicated their preference is to make it obsolete and “adopt” the ISO Standard. This is still under discussion at Committee level but, if it is accepted, the “safe use” section of 4488 is likely to be incorporated into the update of what is currently AS/NZS1891.4. At the time of writing there has been no acceptance of a project to review AS/NZS5532 and therefore the current Standard continues to remains in force.
